GSport for IIGS – Feature Note No. 1

May 22, 2023

ZIPGS Speed – one of the configuration variables is speed referencing the ZipGS. My 6.0.4 version of GSOS has a good number of Control Panels which load on bootup, including the ZipGS. See the picture. So I gave it a try.

The system runs every nicely on the ZipGS 8 MHz. Makes playing, and architecting and testing new Mean18 courses go quickly.

GSPort IIGS Emulator – Running on MacBook

April 10, 2023

GSPort – I’ve kind of wondered about this port for a while. I use the Sweet16 emulator on my MacBook Air. I use to run it on my 2010 MacBook but the 2010 began to crash anytime I’d run decent graphics. No matter what program I was running. I still use it with the Virtual ll emulator. Anyway, I downloaded GSPort for the Linux side as I thought I’d try that but couldn’t get that to work yet. So I downloaded the Mac version and that worked straight away on my old 2010 MacBook. I don’t have a Windows computer so I can’t try that version.

Once you download the image for the MacBook execute it creating a folder with a GSport like icon. I just run it from my desktop. It runs very nicely. I’ve run a number of programs as you can see below without any application issues. The one issue I note is that it’s difficult to transition between start up programs depending on where you are. Sometimes I find it’s just easier to quit GSPort and start it up again hittin F4 configuration key to reconfigure it on boot up.

As noted earlier Sweet16 running some programs would crash the MacBook 2010. One of those programs was the Mean18 golf. I have not had that issue on the GSport. So it’s my default Mean18 machine.
