Jack Nicklaus Golf for Apple IIGS

August 23, 2018

Publishing this now. I thought I published this ages ago.

You really need a TransWarpGS or ZipGSX to play this because the screen draws are horribly slow. Plus a hard drive like today’s equivalents, MicroDrive Turbo or CFFA. How Accolade could have put this out is beyond me. Of course, with today’s emulators it can be fun.

There’s a reason they call them Championship Courses. They are very difficult. Lots of out of bounds and the greens can be incredibly difficult. What makes the greens tough is you can’t see the slope of the green after the hole itself. The game tells you degree of break and up hill or downhill to the hole, but that’s all. I’ve missed more than one hole by less than a foot and have the ball roll 10-15 feet by or even off the green. And they tend to have the pins in the center of multiple slopes. Try it!

These pictures were taking on my Toshiba Monitor with HDMI connection via Scart adapter. That is why they are widescreen shots.

Here’s regular screen dimensions.

New Battery for my Blue Clamshell iBook

August 21, 2018

Finally bought the replacement battery for my Blue iBook. I had one in my Tangerine iBook and it was doing well after a full year. (I use it very infrequently) The new battery is 5200 mAh versus the old 4400. When first charging, it took a good 15-20 minutes to get off 0%. But then it moved very nicely up to 100%. This iBook boots to either OS 10.3.9 or MacOS 9.2.2. Images for both are below..

Showing remaining time.

Following images are LinksPro Golf running macOS 9.2.2 on the same iBook.

Apple II – Computer Images imported to PublishIt

August 12, 2018

Just some fun. I scoured many Print Shop, Newsroom, etc Disk Images to find as many graphics as I could. Publish imports both DOS and ProDos images so here’s a pdf at my Dropbox site. The picture below is just page one. If anyone has other images let me know what disk and I’ll try to get it at Asimov or other sites.

Virtual II Emulator v8.6 – my upgrade from 7.4

August 11, 2018

I finally upgraded from Virtual II v7.4 to 8.6. It seemed to reach that critical mass of new features and fixes. I downloaded the new app, moved the old app version out of its directory and copied the new app in its place. http://virtualii.com/

For earlier versions, some that run on G4’s, see link at bottom of this page.

From there I just began starting my saved Virtual II sessions. Here are a few in the list:

Prodos32 ✔️, OmniDisk Hard Drive versions of AppleWorks, Copy II+

Fishies ✔️, AleClock, ✔️ MouseDesk2 ✔️, GEOWrite ✔️, GEOPublish, ✔️ pfs:Write, ✔️PublishIT4, and many others.

There were some instances of crashing but once I rebooted the session everything thereafter was fine.

Here are some pictures:

[ Note: check out the comments for Todd Holcomb’s follow-up on bug with the Devices not being displayed in – you just need to go to drop down in top menu and select show devices ]

The screen below illustrates the variety of saved sessions I play with.

One significant difference I noticed was in the increase print quality of GeoWrite and GeoPublish apps. Here are the afters and before pictures:

This is the whole 1st page which I just updated. I did NOT bold the entry of August 11, 2018 so you can see difference.

For earlier versions that run on Mac OS 10.4 on G4s Check here. I have an earlier version running on my iMac G4 “flower pot” computer.

Picked this up and it works very well. No issues with it attached to Laser128 or Franklin Ace 500.

Carmen Sandiego – Seeing the Roster and Deleting Players Names

August 4, 2018

Control-D

If you wish to see the Detective Roster just hit control-D. From there you can delete players names. The games only allow so many players on the roster. This happened to me when playing a Teachers and other versions. [ Note the names in capital letters. Leave me a message if you know what it relates too ]
